Outlook fails when X1 opened first

Hi, I am running W8 64, bit, Office 2013 64 bit (not preview). X1 appears to work. But if I start X1 first - or close outlook and attemp to start it again, I can only get a message stating:

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed.

Has anyone seen this on their system?

The errror message seem to be somewhat unspecific. Some claims it goes away if you generate a new pst file - some find it does not. Some says you can use certain switches when you start outlook such as /navpages etc. - Yet some find it has no effect. Some claims it has to do with a Hotmail connection dll. I have trie all of the above. One thing that appeared to work was removing all references in the registry to a hotmail account that I had setup in outlook and later removed (but it still appread in registry - although not in Outlook). Then everything appeared to work. Now it does not.

What seems to conssitenly work is to restart, start outlook and then X1. the machine is brand new and does not have much else running on it.
Regards
