The usual plea for those of us on "slowband"

I wondered if the fact that X1 was running that caused my installation to crash. Your account seems to confirm my suspicion.

On the Outlook warning, the fact that it takes half an hour or more to download the installation files means that I need that warning after X1 has finished the download and before the installer kicks in.

To me all this means that because it forces us to download every new installation, X1 has to create an installation system that is bulletproof. It should explode simply because it doesn't like what is going on. It should detect the issues that it objects to and then show the user some prompt to explain what is wrong and, if possible, gives them an opportunity to fix them before the installer throws up its hands and forces us to start downloading 50MB all over again.

My guess is that X1 buys in its installer package. If so, it should tell the supplier to fix these issues.
