Cannot update or setup 8.1

I have the same problem.

I am running Windows 8.1 beta (64-bit). I tried to upgrade my installation of X.1 8.0.1. When it failed, I uninstalled the previous installation, but have been unable to install x1 8.1 or any prior version. I have run the killreg utility, manually eliminated all x1 files, etc. I still have an "empty" x1 search" icon in Control Panel, which I am also unable to remove.

Please help!
