i used to be able to use NOT, AND, OR logic in the search windows that does not appear to be working - is there a new format with the new version of X1?

I have thousands of .class files distributed across many different folders which I will never need to search. X1 doesn't index the contents but it does index the filename. It would be nice if there were a way to explicitly exclude certain extensions (inc wildcards) from ever being indexed.

Thanks. I'm currently trying out 8 and disappointed so far. Both the UI and search performance seems slower.

I had the same problem but a reinstall fixed it. However, I can no longer open outlook messages from X1 anymore. I'm looking at upgrading to 8 but it seems like a step backwards. It would be nice if there was a way to configure fonts and view settings on 8. The fonts seem very blurry despite me having cleartype disabled.

I have been having boot up problems with my laptop hard drive and if it boots up X1 loads and runs fine. But if I exit X1 and try to restart it is says the trial has expired and to enter activation info. I enter it and it says I have no more activations. I can logoff and log back in and it works fine. Been using it since Jan 2016. I am trying to resolve my hardware issues but I was wondering why this is happening. I use X1 a lot and wanted to know if this is a known issue.

Have you tried to Deactivate it?

> Menu > Info

Then maybe enter the activation info.

But first fix the hardware?

Hi, I had 8.5.2 running on my Windows 7 laptop, which recently had a hard drive failure and was re-built and upgraded to Windows 10. Upon trying to re-install X1 with the license ID and password that was previously sent to me I get an error message saying "Unable to activate X1 Search license. Please verify your X1 Search License Key and password."

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Nitin,

My X1 Professional Client software also seems to have died with the latest round of Windows 10 updates that I installed on January 11, 2018. It affected both computers that I have X1 Professional Client installed on: a laptop with a "Windows 10 Home" operating system; and a Desktop with a "Windows 10 Pro" operating system.

I received the following message when trying to launch X1 Professional Client Version 6.7.4 (Build 4054eu) after the KB4056892 update from Windows 10:
X1 experienced a serious problem while trying to launch. Please try again. If the problem persists, please re-install X1 and try again, or contact support for assistance.

This is the first time I recall having any problem with X1 Professional Client. It has been a remarkably reliable application over many years. I have actually seen other posts on the internet indicating that the Windows 10 KB4056892 update has caused problems with other software as well.

A workaround that I've been using, but which isn't the greatest solution, is to go into "Programs and Features", right click on "X1 Professional Client" and then select "Repair". I can then use X1 until I reboot my laptop or desktop, whereupon I need to repeat the "Repair" procedure.

Thanks Fabian. 6.7.4 was rock solid for years so it's such a disappointment if MS broke it...

It means that when I enter the License ID and Password that are listed there during the initial installation process, I get a pop up box that says: "Unable to activate an X1 search license. Please verity your X1 search license key and password"

OK. Sorry for the question, but another answer could have been that you have activated the thing too many times. The way around that is to deactivate it on one PC and then to use the same credential for another PC. Of course, the "two" PCs can be the same thing.

Have you contacted the support people directly? They'll answer that sort of question even if you don't have a support contract.

Thanks Fabian. I ran windows update just now and MS did not offer KB4058258 for my laptop. But when I checked the dates, KB4056892 was installed on my laptop on 26 Jan, so new updates may be rolling out in a staggered fashion. I'll keep an eye on them.

I’m not positive, but I think the latest updates for Windows 10 may have resolved the problems I was having with launching X1 Professional Client. On February 8, 2018, I installed the KB4058258 update for Windows 10 on both computers I have X1 Professional Client installed on, and X1 is now operating normally again on both computers. X1 Professional was failing to launch after I installed the previous Windows 10 updates (KB4056892) on my laptop and desktop on January 11, 2018.

I have just installed this version on a new Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 with Win 10 Pro. Everything indexes, and re-indexes on schedule, as it should but I seem to have lost Real Time Indexing on my Outlook PST and OST files. I have to exit and restart to get the index up-to-date. Any thoughts? No problems with RTI with this version on the machine I just changed from (Win 10 home).

As speed and reliabilty of X1 is related to the size of it's index I'd like to add some stopwords.
How do I work with stop lists?
How does it have to be enabled?
How can additional stoplists be added?
