Preserve search terms between filter changes

Hold down the shift key when you click to get to another filter.

It will retain some stuff but doesn't always carry over everything.

Preserve search terms between filter changes

There must be a way to do this... I just haven't worked it out yet.

I key in a search term against the ALL filter and then change the filter to email only... it loses my search term and I have to key it again.
How do i stop the search keywords from getting cleared when I start filtering?

Thanks
Graham

x1 stopped working after latest Microsoft update

I'm currently running x1 on Windows 10.
After applying the last Windows update on 25th Jan, x1 crashes on startup with the message 'X1 experienced a serious problem when trying to launch.'
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling x1 and it works just once and then crashes on the next reboot.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions/fixes/workarounds.

Thank you.

Me too. Equally puzzled.

The only thing I have done recently was to move the index from me C drive which was claiming to be full. (It wasn't.)

Hello

I am getting "Some PST files added to X1 could not be accessed".
"These PST files could not be located and may have been moved"

This is very bizarre because the PST file in question IS at the location that it mentions. X1 can still find emails in that PST file, which it can open up. And when I get X1 to "Resume All", it seems to be able to index all my PST files.

In fact, after I reboot, the message goes away. But eventually maybe after 2 or 3 days, a similar message may appear about a different .PST file.

My setup:
- X1 Search v8.5.2.6001si (64bit)
- running on Windows 10 (x64)
- Outlook 365 using msExchange (hosted by Microsoft) with about 8 PST archive files.

What is going on?
Do I have a virus?
Is it a bug on X1 Search?

With thanks

J

Worryingly, under Outlook email options there is an option to "Ignore alert for unavailable PST files".
It's tempting to tick this however I don't want to tick this as if X1 is genuinely failing to index my data I need to know.

Or is this a clue that there is a long-standing buy that X1 can't fix ??!!

Thanks Ken.
I'm on Windows 10 Enterprise [Version 10.0.16299.192].
If no one else is having issues, then probably something else specific to my setup, though I have not changed anything else.

Nitin

A few recent posts suggest an updated X1 is on the horizon Image

Any idea on when those who've elected to try beta versions in their X1 client may be receiving the update?

My X1 indexes etc take up ~13GB.

You don't tell us about your disk space and capacity.

I'm having the same problem since upgrading to 8.5. I have over 35 GB free on my Windows 10 machine. Getting message "All connectors stopped: Low disk space".

Submitted support ticket yesterday, but status says (queue), so no progress.

I received advice to rename the index folder in User\AppData\Local and then open X1 to create a new index. It worked fine and solved the problem. The same result would probably be achieved by just deleting the index in "Data Sources" which would cause the recreation of a new index.

Hi X1, will this be fixed in the next version?

In fact the problem is still fully there in current version 8.5.2
The issue is that the program is expecting the double of all your indexes as free disk space.
So, in my case, I have in "C:\Users\didier\AppData\Local\X1 Search" 16 GB of indexes, so X1 will refuse to work ("all connectors stopped low disk space" until I have 32 GB of free disk available.

The mistake which needs to be corrected by X1 is that there is no need for the every indexes to be compacted at the same time. So, as free space what is needed is the double the size of the largest single index. In my case this is Files-wordpos-0.dat which is 13 GB
So, with 26 GB of free space, I would have enough... Image

Hope this is clear

I am on 8.5.2 and I just got the message that x1 is out of space and the indexing stopped. I have 74GB free. By existing index (all of the DAT files) is 25GB.

The x1 client on my workstation has started reporting with a small pop up message that the disk space for my indices is getting low.

I have the indices stored on their own 50 GB partition. There are about 18 GB of X1 files on this partition. There is nothing else on the partition. The recycle bin doesn't appear to have anything in it. I have checked the partition for errors and defragged it. There are no reported problems.

Does anyone know if I should just ignore this message or does it indicate that something else may be going on? If I should ignore the message then is there a way to turn off the message or reset the sensitivity of the limit so that it appears when I am at greater than say 75% full?

Many thanks, Peter

cannot open emails

In the search results, I see a number of Outlook emails which are bold and thus unread, but I cannot open them or go to the folder. Also I cannot find them by date in my inbox. I have X1 v8.5.2.7153 and Outlook 2016.

Low disk space message, but plenty available

I continue to get the frequent popup message that there is low disk space and that indexing will be stopped. I've read other posts here that attempt to explain that X1 needs double the size of the index available. I have about 100 times more than that available, so that is not the explanation. How to fix this?
