X1 v8 crash - "Absolute path information is required"

My system is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Service Pack 1, all current updates installed.
Outlook version: 14.0.6129.5000 (64-bit), MS Office 2010

I had been using X1 Professional Client versions 6.x.x for years without a major issue.
X1 v8 trial version, before installing itself, uninstalled X1 Professional Client 6.7.4. Upon completion of installation, I let X1v8 to finish its job installing default directories etc. After then, with the intention of adding some other folders (which mostly contain large numbers of pdf files) to the index, I opened the following window, and clicked the "pen icon" in the first row (the one within the square in the picture).

Immediately after clicking the pen icon, this following error message popped up, and I could not pass over the data configuration window to do any configuration of folders / disks whatsoever:

Closing the error window results in X1 shutting itself down.

Uninstalling / reinstalling, "clean uninstalling" / reinstalling under "administrator privileges" did not help.

I do not experience any problem with the outlook configurations though, the only problem being with the files, folders, disks etc ...

PS: English is not my native language; I apologize for language errors.
