X1 and Gmail : keep all my emails on pc ?

Hello,

I was wondering, if I set up my gmail account in X1 : will it download all my emails from gmail and keep all those emails locally on my pc (i.e. using pc space disk) ? Or if it does this by downloading all my emails but keep only a few at a time on my pc (then asking for one each time I want to read an email with a keyword ) ?
