X! hangs when trying to change Data source > Files

I have a continuing problem with the configured data source "Files". I also have loaded version 8.1.
Using this path Menu> Data sources I can see the data source named "files". Although X1 is configured to find files on the c dive but I can’t make any changes or even open the c-drive Icon to see where X1 is searching.

When I click on the pencil icon named edit data source it ALWAYS locks up for the files options.
I can change any of the other data sources without any issues but never the files data source.

I have already:
1.Re-installed X1
2.Unplugged all external hard drives
3.Removed the data source "files". (At this point I couldn’t add it back in so I Reinstalled again)

4.Uninstalled and Reinstalled X1 again. This time to a top-level directory c:\X1search
5.Each time I un-installed X1 I had it delete all of the user setting and files.

Nothing works. any ideas or help?
