Some observations on running V8 in a virtual machine

I run V8 under Windows 7 32bit in a virtual machine (VMWare Fusion 5) on a Mac Mini (Late 2012, 8GB). The virtual machine runs with 2GB of memory. All data is stored on the Mac side of things and shared using VMWare sharing feature. X1 indexes the data, Microsoft Exchange and IMAP accounts

My experience:

1. that scheduled IMAP indexing takes a long time (sometimes half an hour or more per an account). There are a few thousand emails for each account.
2. that scheduled File indexing often takes many hours to complete
3. X1 ServiceHost.exe will at a certain point start using every available % of the CPU (and therefore making the use of any other Windows program almost unusable or too slow to be used (particularly opening files, closing them, printing etc). It will continue to run at maximum CPU sometimes for hours at a time (given the amount of time taken to index) and sometimes will not stop until the virtual machine is closed down. And the problem will continue even if the virtual machine is rebooted and X1 run. The only temporary 'solution' is usually to reboot the Mac Mini as well. Sometimes X1 ServiceHost.exe will run at a few percent of CPU even though it is indexing.
4. At a certain point clicking on an item (program/folder/window) in the Windows task bar will not only active that item but also bring the X1 window to the front. This problem often occurs when in a program such as WordPerfect for Windows, the File Open command is issued and the window for that is opened. There is no cure to this other to close X1 (relaunching it does not solve the problem, unless there is a reboot of the virtual machine).

I have tried raising these points (or similar points) directly with X1 (and provided support logs). Invariably I am told there is a problem (i.e. not enough memory) with my virtual machine or some other program (i.e. for 4.). I have set up new virtual machines but I face the same problems. I use twice the recommended memory for the Windows 7 under VMWare Fusion (2GB rather than 1GB).

My only comparisons are:

1. I installed Copernic 3.7 and there no instances of it taking over the CPU and refusing to stop and there were no delays or lengthy periods of reindexing
2. The same virtual machine has been used on another Mac (a MacBookAir 2013 edition) and there has not be the same noticeable delay in reindexing or taking over the CPU.

I write this all because clearly X1 cannot help (or there is some technical/technological reason that causes the slowness and high use of CPU that prevents them offering a solution) and wonder if another X1 cannot provide any practical tips or solutions.
