Says it's indexing but not making progress

These have quite a few files, but I had thought that once it indexed these that newer files would just be added in a fairly short time. I am unsure what you mean by a files saved search. I have configured my data sources and there are a few folders on the network that I am indexing.

Saved Searches are the nodes in the navigation tree to the left in the UI.

ezpaths wrote:Here is some further observances since my initial post. When I arrived to work on 7 Jan, the Manage Data Sources window said that the network had been indexed. I looked at the All Files and it showed around 220,000 files total indexed. This was around 0730. It also indicated that the last index was about 30 minutes prior to my arrival. Around lunchtime, this number that appeared in the All Files was around 110,000. I know that these files were not erased from the network and I also used windows explorer to confirm that there were files out on the network not appearing in my All Files list. X1 also kept an indexing status for the rest of the day and it is still showing the last index complete as of 7 Jan at 12:38 PM. I am now up to 214,000 odd files, so the index does appear to be working, but again, there are still some files out there that had previously been indexed but are not yet showing.

Hmm .. X1 removes from the index files that cannot be found during a re-scan, but there is a logic which prevents this for files located on a network share, as the network share may be temporary unavailable... One possibility would be if the network share appeared to be accessible, but the files were not ....This needs more investigation.

ezpaths wrote:As an aside, I attempted to change the schedule from indexing files to a timeframe other than every 30 minutes; however, no matter what time I put in there it eventually reverts back to the default of every 30 minutes. Is this a bug or just particular to my system?

Thanks for any advice or previous observances.

We had reports of similar issue before, but we were not able to reproduce it .... can you go to your data folder and look for a file named SharedCache.xml - stop both X1 UI and the service, the rename the file, and then run X1 again - (you may have lost the "Last Indexed" info for the scenners, but it will be populated again soon), and now try to change the schedule for the different scanners and see if they stick.
