X1 does not index Outlook

Hi,

Is your Outlook 32- or 64-bit? You need to install the corresponding bit-ness of X1 for the Outlook plugin to work.

Hello,
Long time X1 user here that just returned to Windows and excited to use X1 again. Basic story new laptop, Windows 10, Office 365, X1. I setup Outlook to "Use cached exchange mode" thinking this would allow X1 to see my mail and index it. I installed X1 indexed the files and there were no email so I removed X1 and reinstalled and noticed that there was no Outlook Plug in, there was a Outlook.com plugin , but I use exchange for mail so that would not let me put in anything but a outlook.com email address. I went to loaded plugins and there is no Outlook plugin the list of plugins is the same as what is in the screen shot below.

I am using:
X1 Search 8.6.1. 6003fa (64 bit)
Outlook for Office 365 MSO (16.0.11328.20220) 32 Bit

Not sure what else to do at this point. I have seen a few posts like this and noticed my build number for X1 does not have any Release notes for this version so not sure if it is me or is the outlook plug in broken. I noticed that another post like this and there was a comment that the 32 bit outlook might not work with the 64 bit X1. Can anyone confirm this or point me in a direction to resolve?

I tried to post this a few days ago but it never showed up on the board.

Can I get a dump/debug info about indexed content

I'm really struggling with X1 indexes growing huge and slow.
What i would like to do is get a dump of all the files in the index, ideally with attributes like indexing type (e.g. size only, full content), size of object, size consumed in index, object modification date.
I can then analyse this to optimise my content index settings.

Basically this is a feedback loop between the configuration and the consquences.
The system currently has no feedback loop and my indexes are an out of control system.

Update: 03.13.19.
Today I got a Win10 update and then I re-installed Office 365 and all is back to normal.

I have the same problem. Double Click an email in XI and it does not open in Outlook 365 (Win 10, both fully up-to-date). Won't open with right click in X1 as well.

When I right click an email in X1 and "send by email" i get this error:

"Unexpected error occurred while emailing.

Most of other functions with right click, except move and copy, do nothing.

Just noticed the issue.It has been fine for many years until now. I think it was working up until a week or two ago.

I'm still having the same problem. I even removed X1 and did a clean install with the latest version and still no luck. Frustrating!

A few weeks ago i noticed that when I double clicked on an email I wanted to open, that nothing would happen. In the past, I'd search for an email in X1 (version 8.6.1 6003fa) and when i found the one I wanted, I could double click it and it would open the message in Outlook. It's not doing that anymore. Any ideas?

Hello. I would like to confirm my understanding of how X1 works with Gmail.

What I would like to be able to do is have X1 create an index of all the mail in a given Gmail account, store that index on my local computer, and to be able to use X1 to search that account's emails just as it would search individual Word docs, pdfs, and so on, with formatting preserved, along with attachments, etc.

Is that in fact how it would work?

Would I need to be online in order to search ALREADY INDEXED emails?

Can I do this with multiple Gmail accounts?

Any other questions I might not have thought of?

I have been using an older version of X1, from before it had Gmail indexing, and would like to update, but want to make sure it will work as I anticipate. I know I can download a trial version, and I will, but I thought I'd ask about this before starting the trial.

As I understand it X1 will index Gmail as you want.

You can certainly add more than one GMail account.

How much it retrieves and indexes is up to you to decide.

You can always give the latest version of X1 a run before handing over your money.

I am having a problem with a build I just downloaded and installed off the X1 site. The outlook connector is missing (or I am doing something wrong I posted a question in general, waiting for it to be approved) . However the build I am using is not listed on this page. Is it a beta build? The build is Build 8.6.1 6003fa.

hmm... must it be the same email address that I used when filling out the form to download the trial?

I wouldn't think so.

When I tried that, I also get stopped at the same point, this time with an error that says "Please validate your email address and password and try again."

But those are also correct.

That email account shows the following alert:

I have downloaded the trial and installed it. Trying to get a new Gmail account set up.

I have entered in the Account Information.
When I click Next, it starts configuring the email settings, and the first step -- Establish incoming connection: imap.gmail.com -- completes and gets a check mark next to it.
The next step -- "Test server credentials for accountname@gmail.com" -- gets an "Add account error - Unable to connect to the server. Please try again."
When I click OK, it returns me to the "New Gmail account" screen.

I am confident that the information I entered there is correct. The only options are User Name, Password, and Full Name (which is my first and last name.)

Any ideas what it might be? This is on a Windows 10 laptop, which is able to connect to the Gmail account without any issue, using Chrome.

"Activation error" Why?

I tried to launch X1, running what I believe was the latest version, this morning and received an error message titled "Activation error", as soon as the X1 window opened, saying "x1 needs to validate with the activation server" and that I needed to check my internet connection. There was and is *no* issue with my internet connection, and as soon as I clicked away the error message, X1 closed. Searching for this issue on the web and this forum has been unsuccessful. Can anyone shed light on this problem?

BTW, I have now UNinstalled X1. Running Win 10.
