X1 Reports Low Disk Space for Index Files but disk >60% free

Hi X1, will this be fixed in the next version?

In fact the problem is still fully there in current version 8.5.2
The issue is that the program is expecting the double of all your indexes as free disk space.
So, in my case, I have in "C:\Users\didier\AppData\Local\X1 Search" 16 GB of indexes, so X1 will refuse to work ("all connectors stopped low disk space" until I have 32 GB of free disk available.

The mistake which needs to be corrected by X1 is that there is no need for the every indexes to be compacted at the same time. So, as free space what is needed is the double the size of the largest single index. In my case this is Files-wordpos-0.dat which is 13 GB
So, with 26 GB of free space, I would have enough... Image

Hope this is clear

Cheers,
Falconresearch

I received advice to rename the index folder in User\AppData\Local and then open X1 to create a new index. It worked fine and solved the problem. The same result would probably be achieved by just deleting the index in "Data Sources" which would cause the recreation of a new index.

I'm having the same problem since upgrading to 8.5. I have over 35 GB free on my Windows 10 machine. Getting message "All connectors stopped: Low disk space".

Submitted support ticket yesterday, but status says (queue), so no progress.

My X1 indexes etc take up ~13GB.

You don't tell us about your disk space and capacity.

The x1 client on my workstation has started reporting with a small pop up message that the disk space for my indices is getting low.

I have the indices stored on their own 50 GB partition. There are about 18 GB of X1 files on this partition. There is nothing else on the partition. The recycle bin doesn't appear to have anything in it. I have checked the partition for errors and defragged it. There are no reported problems.

Does anyone know if I should just ignore this message or does it indicate that something else may be going on? If I should ignore the message then is there a way to turn off the message or reset the sensitivity of the limit so that it appears when I am at greater than say 75% full?

Many thanks, Peter

Can a File Be Indexed Only Once?

I have a particularly large file that is static (will not be added to or changed) and only needs to be indexed once. X1 re-indexes it every time, which takes a lot of time. Is there any way to designate that the file should be indexed once and then left alone?

Me too. Equally puzzled.

The only thing I have done recently was to move the index from me C drive which was claiming to be full. (It wasn't.)

Hello

I am getting "Some PST files added to X1 could not be accessed".
"These PST files could not be located and may have been moved"

This is very bizarre because the PST file in question IS at the location that it mentions. X1 can still find emails in that PST file, which it can open up. And when I get X1 to "Resume All", it seems to be able to index all my PST files.

In fact, after I reboot, the message goes away. But eventually maybe after 2 or 3 days, a similar message may appear about a different .PST file.

My setup:
- X1 Search v8.5.2.6001si (64bit)
- running on Windows 10 (x64)
- Outlook 365 using msExchange (hosted by Microsoft) with about 8 PST archive files.

What is going on?
Do I have a virus?
Is it a bug on X1 Search?

With thanks

J

Amen to that. Nice idea. Bring the X1 user interface into the 21st century.

Hello All,

wouldn't it be nice if X1 search could be opened in multiple windows? For example, I'm constantly searching
PDFs and Word documents and while I can save the search, it would be a lot faster if I could have 2-3 search
windows open at the same time

Comments?

Worryingly, under Outlook email options there is an option to "Ignore alert for unavailable PST files".
It's tempting to tick this however I don't want to tick this as if X1 is genuinely failing to index my data I need to know.

Or is this a clue that there is a long-standing buy that X1 can't fix ??!!

Thanks for your reaction.
There are no log files, I have restored the image that I created just before installing X1.

As for SFC/Scannow

Hello,

first of all, please try this solution:
-------------------------------------------------
Run System File Checker to Fix "Sccut Error 0x900" Error:

Click "Start" button;
Type "Command Prompt" in search box, right click and "Run as administrator";
Type SFC /SCANNOW in the command window;
Press ENTER.
---------------------------------------------------

second, can you provide the logs from X1, so that we can try to determine what exactly caused it to crash.

Hello,

I am posting here, because I can't log in into my account with X1. Yes, I paid for my subscription...

Folks - one piece of advice: NEVER change your email address for X1 !!

I changed it from Gmail to Outlook a year back or maybe longer.
However, one way or the other the X1 server could not handle that.
So I end up not being able to log in anymore. Sending mails to support (from Outlook). It was 'fixed', I could log in one, but but later I could not log in anymore.
Not with my old, not with my 'new' email address. Using the "I forgot my password" button, to both email addresses, I don't get anything back.
So creating a ticket isn't possible.

Maybe, just maybe .... someone of X1 is looking here...

A week or two I did a clean Windows 10 x64-install (1709 build 16299.192 being today's the latest version).
Yesterday I went on to install X1 using X1Search x64 v8.5.2 build 6001si.msi

I am very sorry to say, but it is the truth... :
I always expect X1 to crash, so, before installing X1 I always create an image of Windows.
My experience is that X1 is the only program that crashes, therefore it is essential first create an image (e.g. using Reflect v7 free).

Anyway, things went find until the first launch - I got this weird error:

//
SCCUT initialization failed. Error 0x900
'The character set mapping file can not be found'
//

I went on, paused the indexing and X1 crashed (of course)

=
Image
=

Now, I don't expect users to know a solution.

I am just hoping that someone of X1 support will be looking into the forum some day in future
and
(though far-fetched...) come up with a sort of an idea.
That is: anything else than to try an re-install.
