So here's the current status.
1) Running it as administrator just once cleared up the issue. Exchange indexed fine as far as I can tell.
2) Search 8 does not allow me to add the IMAP accounts that are already installed in Outlook. I needed to set them up separately in Search 8 directly. This seems to be working fine, but I don't like that clicking on an email launches that email in an X1 email reader, not in Outlook. This is the case only for my IMAP accounts, not for the Exchange account. I hope the X1 team solves both of these issues... and doesn't necessitate using this IMAP "feature" of adding accounts directly in X1.
3) I am occasionally getting an error message that the Outlook data file could not be accessed or found... or something like that. I will note the error message and put it on this thread when it happens next. I haven't figured out how to repeat it, but I think it has to do with Outlook being not loaded after having been loaded during the session. I will troubleshoot.
