So, this morning I performed a "fresh" installation of the most current X1 Search 8 Beta. Now, mind you, I did not install this on my new laptop, but instead I installed this on a 5 year old Dell workstation, running Windows XP SP3 with a measly 2GB of RAM.
Even given the old, outdated, slow computer, I was able to index 1M total items in 7 hours and 43 minutes. This is extremely fast! As a point of reference, using any v6.7.x build (or previous version) of X1 Professional, this process would have taken 3+ days to complete.
The breakdown of the types of items indexed consisted of approximately:
The rate of indexing equates to roughly:
As mentioned, indexing was performed on an old, slow PC. Further, the computer was not optimized for indexing as several other applications were running, the X1 GUI was not minimized, etc., so I'm fairly certain that I could increase the rate of indexing even on that old machine.
Therefore, the question and/or challenge to you: See if you're able to configure your system to index at a faster rate than what I've posted above. Also, along with your system specs and the rate of indexing figures, please indicate what things you've done (i.e. the steps you took), to improve indexing performance.
Please post your findings in this thread.
