The results ranking does not appear to be as good as X1 v7. I have done a few ad-hoc searches and the results are ordered in a way implying ranking is only based on word count (count of "seached" words in document) and not word proximity. Word proximity ranking would use techniques such as number of words between two "found" words in a document and/or ranking of "found" words in the same order as the user entered "searched" words.
I have a lot of technical documents mostly on the one topic and so the same keywords are found across the indexed documents.
