I disagree. Nothing was setup 'strangely' for Outlook 2012 - it was a stock standard install. Didn't touch anything. This box is used just for X1 - so, no one even uses Outlook on this box.
Just for fun - I de-installed 2012, and reintsalled 2010 - and it's now happily re-indexing X1 (to be fair to 2010, I deleted the index and reindexed from scratch, which is the same test I did with 2012) and guess what, back to being all good again - no listing of this Recoverable Items folder.
So, my conclusion X1 + 2012 is not completely happy.
