So what is this mail search field that you talk about?

Attachments are email attachments.

To quote the help file:

Selecting Attachments will find matching results in any email attachment, including the body of the attachment and/or any attachment metadata field. Your search will be applied to any attachment regardless of what type of Outlook item it was attached to (Email, Calendar entry, Contact or Task).

It is very confusing to use terms that X1 uses for its support of Outlook in completely different contexts.

If a msg file has a second file associated with it, that second file is not an attachment in the sense that X1 and Outlook use that term.

I suspect that this is true in all of the languages that Outlook and X1 support.
