X1 desktop and Outlook - new file

Opening the PST file in Outlook is not the best solution. It means that you have to keep the PST file open. If you close it, X1 will lose sight of the file and may lose track of the indexing.

You should be able to add the PST file in X1.

  • Look at the bottom right-hand corner of the window, on the status line, you will see "Indexing......"
  • Right-click that.
  • Click the "cog" marked Manage Data Sources.
  • Click the Edit Data Source "Pencil".
Can you see a button that says ADD PST FILE...? If so, negotiate your way to your PST file – did you do that b it? – and add it.

If not, something is bust in X1.

There is another way of doing this, by adding the PST file to the list of databases associated with your mail Mail Profile. But try the above first.
