Phantom index items reported in status bar

X1's status bar says "11 items indexed", but this is an error. I have already deleted the index and have cleared (i.e., "do not index") all the checkboxes in "Files Options". No results appear in any of the results panes. The indexing schedule is "Never repeat", so X1 will only index if I do so manually. I have deleted all Temp files on the PC. I have rebooted. Still, X1 says, "11 items indexed".

I'm running Win 7 (64-bit); X1 v.8.3, build 5001lw (64-bit).

Why is X1 showing these phantom index items? What can I do to make the index read "0"?
