How to combine the date field for documents and attachments?

Perhaps an image would help to explain the issue.



I'm not sure that I understand it either, but from the earlier conversation it is the blank bits in those arrowed date columns that are the problem. You sort on one or the other, but not on a unified date.

The attachments have dates where the files do not, and vice versa.
