I have been asking myself the same question for some time.

C'mon X1 you have had enough reports and logs to know that this is an issue.

Maybe they could also address the "flashing view" problem that makes X1 Search 8.1 unusable for me with PDF files, as described here:

PDF display is seriously broken.

Where is everyone at X1?
