X1 search 8 freezes and Outlook won't start

I just had an episode of X1 freezing.

It would not stop in the usual way.

I had to kill it using task manager.

I did this while Outlook 2010 was trying to load.

It just sat there going nowhere until I killed the final X1 process.
Two things:

• please make it easier to kill X1 when it blows up
• even when it won't close, stop it from preventing Outlook from loading.

I could add stop it from freezing in the first place, but I realise that this is not possible.
