X1 8.0.1 triggering no default mail client error message

I confirmed that I'm Win7 Professional 64-bit on an I7-3667U processor as seen via the control panel.
I have confirmed that my Outlook 2013 is 32-bit as seen via the "about" feature
X1 is installed in the x86 directory.

Also, the issue has changed slightly. the root issue is still the same as my email is not being indexed but now the error message discussed earlier is no longer being triggered. As I said, this is a new PC and there have been many windows updates (new ones every day) as happens with a new device so it's possible that the prior issue was "fixed" in one of the many patches loaded over the past 48 hours.

but X1 will not index my mail. With OL 2013 the pst filed are stored in the Documents folder versus the old local app data path but I doubt that I'm the first 2013 X1 user. I've used X1 for many years and it's always worked well until now.

I did create a ticket with support (this morning) and used the x1 diagnostic upload feature but I've not heard from them yet.

any ideas on things to try?

thanks,

Steve
