I just switched to Outlook 2010 (yes, I know, a bit late...) - indeed the searchbar is hidden under 'Add-ins'.
That said,
a) to be honest, I wonder what the use is to have it in Outlook: when doing a search, it will launch full X1, i.e. the same as 'run X1' from the taskbar
b) it slows down loading Outlook (the Outlook loading panel stays on top for quite a while and I can see the add ins being loaded one by one. This wasn't the case in 2007: loading Outlook 2007 was much faster, likely about 1/3rd of the time needed now
c) being in Outlook 2010 and clicking on the Add-in tab, entering a search string, it will launch X1 (6.7.4) but... with the search string that was _previously!_ used in the Add-in box.
so: example: previously used search string is 'text-01'
new search 'text-02' (entered in the search box under Outlook Add-in
x1 launched with 'text-01' as search parameter.
I have to clear the box and re-enter text-02 there.
Tried to solve this by clearing the box in X1, closing X1, manual relaunching, box (X1) remained empty
do the search again (text-02) in outlook but again, X1 shows text-01
So, all in all, I am afraid that X1 (within Outlook 2010) has hardly any advantages over the manual launch/search.
