I see your line of argument, but think it is misguided.
I neither need nor expect your business. As I said before, and repeat in my signature, I don't work for X1. I have just bought the software since 2004. I did pause with this release, partly because it missed out on things I loved in the previous version, and in the aborted version, X1 7. Fortunately, I can still run 6.7X alongside 8.X and can get the best of both worlds. Pity about 7.X.
You see me here because I also try to help other users because I realise that this is a small(Ish) software house that cannot afford a round the clock on-line presence.
By the way you are hopelessly wrong about magazines. If nothing else the statement that "Magazines do not need to be trusted" is an insult to me and the many people who work on magazines. They actually need to be "trusted" more than any software. I don't "trust" software to do anything. I do rely on, and expect, it to do the job I require of it, in the same way that I expect on a car to get me from A to B. I certainly wouldn't trust a car any more than I would trust a bank manager.
If you can find an equally powerful index and search package for $50, I am sure they would welcome your custom.
