X1 does not start - stops at Initializing Interface

Only got X1 working on win XP, never on win 7. I tried reinstall many times during the last year or so. Since it took already quite a while,I have submitted a support ticket.

The only extra info in that ticket is:
Professional Client hangs in initializing, also right after after reinstalling:
- The X1 window 'Initializing application' stays on for 30 sec, then closes
- After 1:50 min X1service.exe stops, an X1 window with a question like 'do you want to participate in..' appears
- After clicking Yes, X1.exe also stops
Noting happens anymore. Next try will give a repeat of the above

- Only process that stays active: X1systray, though not responding
