System crashes when trying to set data sources

Indeed, I have had this error at regular intervals: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when going into settings.
Exit X1, relaunch, go to file settings (Pencil) - again this error.

I donot submit the error report as a whole lot of non-related other stuff is submitted as well (like filenames, filefolders).

This error occurs to me when e.g. copying one or more 'big' folders, with many subfolders documenttype files (like .txt, .doc),
and then deleting the original one. Now ... X1 should start indexing again, but did not.
I went into editing data source: crash.

It happened to me twice just now.

After exiting X1, with me, there is always 1 file remaing visible in the taskmgr "X1ServiceHost.exe *32".
I giI killed that one as well, so there is X1 entry anymore. Waited 20-30 seconds, relaunched X1.
It started re-indexing, at least. Editing datasource is still impossible though. Still the same error.
