Where do I look for this file?

Over the years I have installed X1 many times. It has changed where it put things. I try to bookmark these places, but it am now totally confused.

Hi,

is there a crash.xml file in the logs folder?
If so, then what is the crash? is it "<ErrorMessage>UnmanagedCodeException: Crash in X1IndexCore.dll </ErrorMessage>" ?

Updates from v8.4 to v8.4.1 failing

I am currently running 8.4 build 5003ow (64-bit) (8.4.0.7417 plugins) I attempt to update to 8.4.1 in the update box that pops up. It goes thru its paces and downloads everything. When it trys to do the actual install, gets thru preparing installation, then it errors out. with Unable to complete setup due to an unexpected error. Please see logs for details. I zipped up all the logs and removed them and then reproduced the issue. None of the 8 logs appears to be anything about the new installation and its error. Where is that log?

Our 8.4.1 release should resolve the above error and other issues X1 experienced with Outlook 2016 click-to-run installations. The issue ultimately stemmed from Microsoft changing the manner in which MAPI calls work with click-to-run Outlook 2016 downloaded from Office 365.

Please upgrade as soon as possible. We've pushed the build live so you can upgrade to the latest version from within X1 via Menu > Help > Check for Updates. You can also simply install over the current build using this direct link to the installer:

http://download.x1.com/downloads/search ... hSetup.exe

Please let us know that works for you.

Best,

Mike

Is there any word on the fix yet. It's been quite a while since the Windows 10 upgrade, and a month since X1 said that they had a good idea about what the problem is.

Same issue here (Windows 10, Office 2016) - this error pops up 8 times.
Accompanied with "Connection with X1 service has been lost. A restart may fix this problem. Would you like to restart X1?" Restart repeats same cycle.
Also, bizarre: search for Calendar, Tasks, Contacts not offered.

Hi all,

We are well aware of the Outlook 2016 issue and accompanying error message "Your operating system is not presently configured to run this application." We are dedicating full development resources to resolve the issue. Indications thus far are the issue centers on OL2016 click-to-run and missing registry keys caused by an update to an Outlook library we leverage in Search 8. Microsoft apparently pushed out a patch to this library last week. We are grabbing the compatible bits and will prdouce a patch fix as soon as possible.

Apologies for any inconvenience, and we should have this resolved shortly.

Best,

Mike

I have the same problem. After upgrading to 8.4 the message started to appear.

I use Windows 7 Professional and Office 2016 through an Office 2016 subscription.

Is X1 set to run with some strange compatibility setting?

Since the update to 8.4 (build 5003ow (64bit) I get the following error message in a dialog box:
"Your operating system is not presently configured to run this application."

I am running Windows 10.

If I cancel the dialog box the application appears to run OK.

Is my version up to date?

Now that is a very very strange issue ... we haven't heard of anyone else having the same problem.

Did you try my suggestion from viewtopic.php?f=68&t=9839#p25985
because I am really out of ideas what can be causing this other than some hidden dll caching by Windows

Here is another blast from the past that I thought had been fixed.

Help > About

says that I have

X1 Search 8.3.3
build 5003fx (64-bit)

If I tell it to check for updates, it offers me X1 Search 8.4.1

If I tell it to install the update, it quickly shows "No Updates Available"

The properties of the file X1.exe say that it is Product version 8.4.1.7430

Hi,

this is the log from the UI, showing error when it cannot connect to the background service. But what is happening on the service side at the same time? Are there any errors in the X1ServiceHost.log file? Any crash.xml files in the same folder?

This is an extract from the log taken from the time when X1 was supposed to start itself.

Thanks so much for the update, and I'm glad to hear things are working well now. Please don't hesitate to reach out if that changes.

Version 8.4.1 seems to work like a champ. I'm no longer receiving the error, and indexing of all of my sources is working properly, without error.
thanks

My current outlook does indeed have many subfolders now - what do you consider very large?
At any rate I did this step, clicked to add outlook as a data source, and x1 hung.

Hello,

Is there a chance that you have very large structure of folder and subfolders in your Outlook profile?

In the data folder there are the files OutlookConfigCalendar.xml, OutlookConfigContact.xml, OutlookConfigEmail.xml, OutlookConfigNote.xml and OutlookConfigTask.xml.
Can you open each of then in a text editor, locate the line
<account-removed value="False" />
and replace it with
<account-removed value="True" />

The start X1. If it runs, then you will have no Outlook accounts configured. Try adding them again one by one from the Data Sources dialog and see if it again freezes on some.

Hello,

can you check the X1.log file in the logs subfolder in the data folder and see if it contains any errors?
